Dona Paula is a famous tourist attraction located 7 km from Panaji. It lies at a place where Mandovi and Zuari rivers meet the Arabian sea. The beach is named after a lady with the name Dona Paula De Menezes. There are many theories regarding her life and death and she is still believed to exist as a ghost. Dona Paula beach offers numerous water sport attractions including speed boats,wind surfing, ginghy sailing etc. Many movies have been shot here, prominent among them being Ek Duuje Ke Liye and Singham.
This is an ideal place to relax and sun bathe. This beach offers several watersport activities. Boating, para-sailing, water scooters, wind surfing, yatching are available.
Evening would be an ideal time to visit this place because of the cool breeze and a spectacular view of the horizon. Arabian sea, ships from the nearby harbour, the evening sky offer a mesmerising experience.
Dias beach is actually a part of Dona Paula. The entrance to the beach is quite narrow and it is protected by hillock on either sides. It is just around 150 m long. This place offers a great view and a place to swim.
This statue depicts the figures of Mother India looking at the east and Young India looking at the west. This was sculpted in 1969 by Baroness von Leistner.
