Bababudangiri is a mountain located in the Western Ghats of India. It is located 40 kms north of Chikkamagalur district. This place is famous for the shrine of Sufi saint Baba Budan. It's a pilgrimage center for both Hindus and Muslims. Bababudangiri mountain range are Baba Budangiri and Mullayangiri. This mountain range has the highest between Himalayas and Nilgiris.
The darga is a small laterite cave sacred to both Hindus and Muslims. This place is believed to be blessed by saints Dattatreyaswamy, Hazrat Dada Hayath Mir Khalandar and many more. An annual fair is held here in honour of the peeta for three days after the Holi festival.
It is one of the main attractions of Bababudangiri sacred located close to Bababudangiri Darga. There are three water falls here - Gada Theertha, Kamana Theertha and Nellikayi Theertha. Gada means a blunt mace or club. It is believed that Pandavas visited this place during their exile and Bheema created this fall using his Gada to quench the thirst of his mother and hence the name. It is a popular belief to leave a part of cloth after taking bath in Nellikayi Theertha.
There is a popular trekking route to Bababudangiri from Sarpadhari. From Chikkamagalur, you have to take left at Sarpadhari. On reaching an intersection, the left goes to Mullayangiri peak. To trek, you need to proceed straight to reach Sarpadhari where we can find a small arch. This is the starting point of the trek. The trek is around 14 kms and difficulty level is moderate.
There are no direct buses to Bababudangiri. It is around 20 kms from Chikkamagalur. There are frequent buses plying to Chikmagalur.

There are frequent buses plying from Bangalore to Chikkamagaluru. By bus it is approximately a 6 hour journey. From Chikkamagaluru, an auto/ taxi can be taken to reach Baba Budangiri.
There is no direct train to Chikkamagaluru from Bangalore. There is train available from Bangalore to Shimoga. SBC SMET Express (Train No:16201) can be taken from Yeshwantpur Railway Station to Shimoga Railway Station. From Shimoga there is a daily passenger train to Chikkamagalur via Kadur.
Connect to Tumkur road. Drive till Nelamangala and take left to the road connecting Hassan i.e follow NH 4 and NH 48 to State Highway 71 in Channapattana, Hassan. Take State Highway 57 and Attigundi Rd to Kemmanagundi Road in Kesavinamane. From Kemmangundi road, it is a 13 km drive.
Theare are regular buses plying from Mysore to Chikkamagaluru. Journey time is around 5 to 6 hours.
Connect to Hunsur road. Follow Mysore road and State Highway 57 to Attigundi road in Hosahalli. Connect to Kemmanagundi road in Kesavinamane. From here, Baba Budangiri is around 13 kms.
