Chennakeshava temple is the chief attraction of Belur because of its architectural splendor. The temple was built by King Vishnuvardhana. It took more than 100 odd years to complete the construction which was finally done by his grandson Veera Ballala II. The credit for the marvellous architecture of this temple goes to Jakanachari. This temple is an epitome of Hoysala architecture.
