Chennarayana Durga is a fort constructed in the 17 th century by Madhugiri ruler Channappa Gowda. Over time, it was occupied by Marathas, Wodeyars of Mysore and Tippu Sultan. There are Devnagari inscriptions on the fort walls. There are caves, water tanks and other structures all along the Chennarayana Durga Fort.
The trek is quite challenging. The terrain is rocky and steep sometimes. Due to it's rocky terrain, there is good grip while climbing. It is recommended that proper trekking or rock climbing shoes be worn for this climb.
