Gol Gumbaz also known as Gol Gumbad is an architectural triump of the Deccan architecture. The Indo-Islamic style of architecture is predominantly visible. The beautiful structure was completed in the year 1656 AD. The overwhelming structure has a dome with a diameter of 44 mt. With an area of 1700 mt sq, this structure is one of the biggest single chamber places in the world. The monument is the resting place of Mohammed Adil Shah who ruled in the 17th century.
The Gol Gumbaz Indo-Islamic architecture is predominantly seen in this structure. The height of the structure is 51 mt. The material used to construct this structure is dark grey basalt. The structure is composed by a huge cube capped by a dome. The cube is 156 ft long on each side.
The whispering gallery is 3.25 wide all along the periphery of the dome and is situated at a height of 33.33 mt from the floor of the hall. Even a clap is echoed over again and again more than 10 times.
