Gudi means "temple" and bande means "rock". Gudibande is a cave temple and that is how the place derives its name. This place is popular for the Gudibande Fort which was built by Byre Gowda in the 17th century. The fort is highly inspired by the Madhugiri Fort and forms one of the important fort in the network of forts in the region. The place is a mixture of spirituality and adventure.
This fort was built in the 17th century. There is a complex network of escape routes and inlet routes to help the soldiers in case of emergency. There is a Shiva temple at the top of the fort which is one among the 108 Jyotirlingas. The way to the top offers a nice trek.
Narasimhaswamy temple is a cave temple and the place derives the name from this temple. The Lakshmivenkataramanswamy temple was constructed by the Cholas and attracts a lot of piligrims.
