Honnavara is a port town located in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka state. Honnavar town forms an estuary with Arabian Sea to the west and river Sharavathi to the south.
Receiving more than 1 million devotees every year, the Vinayaka temple is famous. It is the main tourist attraction of Idagunji in Honnavar Taluk.
Kasarkod beach is one of the main tourist attractions of Honnavar. This beautiful beach is located just 2 km from Honnavar in Kasagod village. This is an ideal sunset spot. Childerns Play area, Resting spots, walking track, snack stalls are added extra attractions.
Ramatirtha is a holy place on the Honnavar-Chandavar road about 3 km away from Honnavara. Legend says that Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana took a holy dip in the tank during their exile.This water tank which is 50 steps below the ground level. The water from a height falls into the tank from two points called Ramathirtha and Laxmanthirtha.
This 30-meter tall column set up in 1845 on the top of a hillock is in honor of Col who died while commanding the Mysore division. This structure is located by the side of N-H 17.
The place is near the confluence of the Sharavathi river and the Arabian Sea. A small trek from the entrance will lead to a small water fall and a pool.
