Kemmannugundi is a wonderful hill station situated at an altitude of 1434 mts. It was the summer retreat of the Mysore King Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. The difference in weather can be immediately noticed the moment you enter the Kemmanagundi surroundings. The weather is cool throughout the year. It is particularly comforting in the summer. There is a beautiful garden maintained by the Horticulture department of Karnataka.
An uphill trek of 45 minutes from the Rajbhavan leads us to Z point. This place is wonderful place to be during sunrise.
If there is one place in Kemmangundi where we get a spectacular sunset view, then it is at Rajbhavan. The sunset view from here is a spectacle.
The horticulture department has maintained beautiful gardens. The prominent among them is the rose garden where different varieties of roses are grown.
There are direct buses available to Kemmangundi.
Tarikere Junction is the nearest railway station.
Mangalore International Airport is the nearest airport.
There are buses from Bangalore to Tarikere. From Tarikere, Kemmannugundi is around an hour and half drive. Also, there are buses available from Bangalore to Birur. Kemmangudi is about 36 km from Birur.

SBC SMET EXP ( Train number 16201 ) - This train is available from Bengaluru on all days of the week. Departure from Bengaluru is at 3:30 pm and approximate journey time is 4 hours.
TALGUPPA EXP ( Train number 16227 ) - This train is available from Bengaluru on all days of the week. Departure from Bengaluru is 11:00 pm and journey time is approximately 4 hours 50 minutes.
SHIMOGA EXP ( Train number 16579 ) - This train is available from Bengaluru on Saturday and Sunday. Departure time 9:00 am. Approximately journey duration is 4 hours 40 minutes.
Thare are two routes to Kemmangundi from Bangalore. One is through Tumkur and the other is through Hassan and Chikkamagalur. Preferred route is the tumkur route.Connect to Tumkur road and follow National Highway 4 and National Highway 206 to Birur. Follow Linghadahalli Main road to Kemmanagundi Road in Manchethevaru. This route is Tumkur - Tiptur - Arsikere - Birur - Lingdahalli - Kemmanagundi. This is the preferred route.
There are buses available from Mysore to Birur. From Birur, Kemmanagundi is around 35 km and roughly an hours drive.
There are trains between Mysore to Tarikere. From Tarikere, Kemmannugundi is 32 km away.

Connect to Bangalore - Mysore road to reach Srirangapatna. Follow State Highway 7 and National Highway 206 to reach Birur. Follow the Lingadahalli to State Highway 57 in Lingadahalli. From here connect to Kemmanugundi road to reach Kemmannugundi.
