Pushpagiri is also known as Kumaraparvatha. It is the highest point in the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary. Infact, the Pushagiri Wildlife Sanctuary gets its name from the Pushpagiri Peak. Pushpagiri is located in the northern part of Kodagu District in Somwarpet taluk. The region has thick vegetation and abundant flora and fauna.
Kumaraparvatha is a popular trekking paradise. There are two routes from which this peak can be scaled. One starts from Somwarpet and the other starts from Kukke Subramanya, located in Dakshina Kannada District of Pushpagiri range. Both the trekking routes are equally popular. It can be scaled in one day. It is a popular trend to trek to the top, camp there for one night and descend the next day. The trek offers scintillating views of hills.
Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary encompasses an area of 102 sq km and is located in the Somwarpet taluk of Kodagu district of Karnataka. The Sanctuary is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. It is one among the most important bird areas in India and the world because it is home to endangered bird species.

Bangalore to Pushpagiri distance is 260 km and is approximately a 5 hour drive. From Bangalore, connect to Tumkur road. Follow National Highway 4 and National Highway 48 to State Highway 7 in Gulsinda, Chennarayapatna. Connect to State Highway 8 till Kumaralli. This route goes to Nelamangala, Kunigal, Yediyur, Chennapattana, Holenarasipura and Somwarpet.

Mysore to Pushpagiri distance is 139 km. From Mysore, connect to Hunsur road. Drive from Mysore Madikeri road to Kudige. Take slight left towards Belur Somwarpet road. From here, drive to Kumaralli which is near the trekking trail of Kumaraparvatha. This route passes through Hunsur, Bylakuppe, Kushalnagar and Somwarpet.
