Alleppey is a popular tourist destination in Kerala. It is blessed with a picturesque network of canals and backwaters. Beaches and Lagoons add to the attraction .The Vembanad lake, rivers Achankovil, Pamba and Manimala along with the canals form a great route for inland navigation. A ride through the canals is a great experience. One gets to view the lush green and never ending streches of paddy fields, coconut trees beside the canals. Country boat, Motor boat, Cruise boats, luxury boats are available for a journey through the backwaters. Apart from the lush greenery, one can spot some rare birds.
Canal cruise in the backwaters is the primary attraction of Alleppey. This canal ride through the nature is a mesmerising experience. Overnight stay in any of the luxury boats is another interesting experience.
Kuttanad is called the rice bown of Kerala. It is the most majestic backwater region in Kerala. It is a hub for rice boat and houseboat cruises. Snake boat races conducted here are quite popular. Allappuzha beach is great beach to spend some time. It is a popular picnic spot. The pier which extends all the way upto the sea is 137 years old. Vijaya beach park located nearby is another place to have some great entertainment.
