Wayanad literally means land of paddy fields. This picteresque plateau is situated amidst the Western Ghats in North Kerala. Wayanad district has many things to offer. From beautiful mountain ranges, to rivers, dams and a great weather. Kalpetta, Sulthan Bathery, Manathavady, Pulppally are the major towns.

Neelimala

Neelimala is a trekkers paradise. There are several approaches to this view point which is located near Vaduvanchal in Wayanad. The view of the Meenumatti falls roaring down amidst the dense forests is a sight to watch.

Meenmutty waterfalls

Water falls from a height of 300 m in three stages to offer a spectacular view. Meenmutty falls is located near the highway which connects Ooty and Wayanad. It is the largest waterfall of Wayanad district.

Kanthanpara waterfalls

Kanthanpara is just 22 kilometers away from Kalpetta. The height of the waterfall is only 30 m high. This waterfall is very safe for playing in water. The surroundings of the waterfall is as beautiful as the falls.

Chembra Peak

Chembra peak is near Meppady which is in the southern part of the Wayanad district. With an imposing height of 2100 m, scaling the peak is an interesting experience. Ideally, it will take a full day for the ascent and descent of this peak. The view from the top is mesmerising.

Chethalayam falls

This waterfall is another major tourist attraction in wayanad. The falls and surroundings are ideal locations for trekking and bird watching.

Banasura Sagar Dam

Banasurasagar dam is popular as the largest earth dam in India. This reservoir is a great place to spend some time. It is also the starting point for trek to Banasura peak.

Pakshipathalam

Pakshipathalam is rich in birdlife. Located at a height of 1740, it is a 7 km trek from Thirunelli. This region is rich in flora and fauna.
